A note to my players… from Scott Dickens

I love playing with all you guys… and would like to say thank you all.
I know playing ball all summer is a big commitment, and I appreciate all of you who came and played.
This year we always had enough, we never had to forfeit, and there wasn’t 1 jerk on the team this year.

For the many of you that could not make it last night… we lost, season over.
I’ve had this terrible funk and depressed feeling since last night.
We had a bunch of chances, and guys on base, but no one ever got the big hit to get something going.
The other team blooped us to death in the first inning, and got 3 right away… and we were immediately behind the 8 ball.
We were missing the spark last night.
We lost 0-6.

We had a lot of promise this year to do big things, and have a very good year… but unfortunately for the most part we underperformed.
We are/were much better.
We never had all the cogs in place at the same time, the way we brought it together last year.
We should have beaten Elmer’s on Monday… but it wasn’t meant to be. We came up short losing 7-6.

After the way we went out and grabbed that championship last year… this year was tough to swallow.

We will have a get together (team party) sometime very soon… definitely earlier than later.
I know a few people have said they’d be interested in hosting it…
Gilbert said he wanted too (but with your move is that possible?)
Paul said his wife is away soon, and said maybe he’d do it.
Erik volunteered his place in Bristol at the end of August…
I can always do it at my place in Willimantic, but I’m guessing you guys would rather do it somewhere closer to Bristol.
So we need to settle that, and get together one last time this year, get a little drunk, and laugh about out failures.

I’ll be sending out some emails soon, with info about upcoming stuff…like:

• ALL-STARS… we have a MTL All-Star Game game next Friday night… and will be sending guys. Some of you are definitely deserving.

• FINAL TEAM AND LEAGUE STATS… stay tuned

• POST SEASON AWARDS… I’ll send out a poll to vote on like last year. I can’t say I’ll be able to make the stuff nearly as much for awards this year… but maybe a little something.

• When/Where the team party will be.

• Off season workouts… Blais and Erik want to do some stuff this off season… Possibly use our man Earl Oakes as the team pitching coach?
